Revolution Of Modern Technology In Marine Surveying

At constellation marine services, our interest in advanced inspection technologies is on the rise.
Increasing complexity of marine and offshore assets and associated operational activities a need for prompting advanced technology within surveying the order of the day.
We are trying to lead the way forward in applying these technologies to augment surveys and inspections.

The idea is to promote innovation and apply advanced inspection technologies to enable a more predictive and less intrusive survey process, as well as a safer work environment at the surveying site.
The usage of following equipment's and concept is going to bring a great revolution in maritime industry in coming future:

1. Big data analytics: The simplification of big data analytics creates the ability to use algorithms to look at correlations between the different forms of data, with the report claiming that "when the correlation is spotted, new algorithms will be established and applied automatically".

2. Robotics: The robotic technologies will "integrate assets with other emerging technologies" such as big data and the Internet of Things and will reduce human interaction with dangerous processes in surveying field.

3. Sensors wireless monitoring: The acquiring of data will allow shipowners to improve overall maintenance cycles of vessels, including condition monitoring and condition-based monitoring. For example, the sensors will be able to notify shipowners when a piece of equipment requires maintenance and renewal of spares. The records of same as a feedback can be used in surveying field.

4. Communications connected to ship: The vessel may allow operators to access live audio as well as HD and 3D video from on-board recording devices and remove the need for physical on-board surveys which is going to be very economical.

5. Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), more commonly known as drones: Improving safety culture, economical, speeding up processes, making access more comfortable. We all know that traditional methods of external vessel inspection can be a costly affair. Now that high definition, camera-equipped drones are widely available and affordable, using them for external vessel inspections to assess that the structural condition remains effective, is becoming more common. Identifying substantial corrosion, significant deformation, fractures, damage, or other structural deterioration can be done quickly, easily and at much lower cost by using drones.

6. Virtual reality: Virtual reality processes are creeping into training technology and shipping can expect the first commercial program to be available in 2018. VR and AR can also be used for ship design and engineering processes by evaluating ship interiors, piping requirements, electrical networks and personnel movements in emergencies. VR is likely to be introduced on cruise ships for passenger entertainment and for demonstrating what should happen in emergencies. It may also have applied to offshore vessels and commercial shipping for similar purposes.

In the coming days when above technologies are adapted following benefits may be achieved in marine surveying field:

A. Double productivity
B. It expects to reduce cost by 40%
C. Increase the safety protection of surveyors
D. Generate positive attention
E. Time saving factor
